To Judy, Thankyou for all your time in giving me instructions on how to sort this "Ada-Ware" out. What would we do without people like Bob and yourself. Best wishes Sue...............

Judy You forgot to mention - put the kettle on first LOL Ros Judy is right it IS spyware but there are some "free" progs that won't run without the spy working. Personally I wouldn't use one. That's a personal choice because I object to these things in principle. (I don't use loyalty cards for the same reason) Bob

Sue: I've written out step by step....I hope this helps! This program does not run in the background to protect you from spyware the way Norton is always on protecting you against viruses. Run this anytime you're online a lot, anytime you download anything off the internet, of just weekly as part of your routine maintenance. It is an important part of keeping your computer running smoothly. 1. After installation of Adaware, an icon will appear on your desktop. Click it to open. 2. Click on CHECK FOR UPDATES NOW. Follow the NEXT prompts. (This updates any definitions to the program since the download was posted on the internet. Do this right before scanning your computer each time you use it to be sure the software is always up to date.) 3. After definitions are updated click on SCAN NOW. 4. Click NOW to start the scan. 5. When the computer is done scanning it will display the number of spyware it’s found. Click on NEXT (or if you want to view what it found you can click on SHOW LOGFILE first. After viewing logfile click on close and it will return you to where you can click on NEXT.) 6. You’ll now be looking at SCANNING RESULTS and here, too, you will see what spyware has been found. Using your mouse, place the mouse over the list of items found and RIGHT click. A box will appear with choices - select SELECT ALL OBJECTS. All the spyware found will now have a check mark in front of it. You can place the check marks manually, too, by using your mouse and clicking in the box in the first box under the colum heading OBJ. (For some reason sometimes the check marks are there automatically, sometimes you have to put them there manually.) 7. After everything is checked off in the list click on QUARANTINE. A small box appears and asks you to name the file….I use the day’s date. Then hit OK (or whatever the prompt is.) Click on NEXT and you’ll be advised or asked if it’s OK to remove….click OK and the spyware found is “quarantined.” The reason for quarantining over deleting is because if by some freak of nature, something on your computer needs is removed by accident by the program, you can go back and “restore” what was removed. In a day or two, you can open the adaware program if you want and completely delete the quarantined items if all is well….and it should be. This is just a safe guard for you. To delete quarantined items: Click open the Adaware icon on your desktop. Click on OPEN QUARANTINE LIST All quarantined items will show. Simply right click on it and choose the option DELETE ARCHIVE. You will note here, this is where you would also choose RESTORE if you needed to. Judy

Hi Judy, Do you mean highlight every one then tick on the left and do them one at a time? I did choose all objects to go, but they are still there Sue..............

Sue....when you have the list of found items listed on your screen, place your mouse on any one of them, RIGHT click, and a box appears, choose ALL OBJECTS and then your can delete them. Thye won't delete unless you mark them off to be deleted. You can choose which ones to keep by unmarking them individually.....then you can delete them. Ros: The item in your tool bar, that you want to keep IS spyware. Judy

Ros Find out which file it needs and don't delete it with all the others. If you right click on it you can mark it for the future Bob
