Thanks Micheal I think you are probably right. It is quite possible that he served there. I have just found a website. Lascarisassoc.britanianet.co.uk/home html which mentions Camatara and also the base HMS Phoenicia which he left before joining Camarata. STC Camarata would have become Camarata barracks by the time he joined it. Thanks again Jane

Thank you all for your help. William - i will check out your suggestion that it could be a minesweeper. I think it is unlikely that he served on a trawler. Denise - Please can you ask your nephew to see if he can come up with any ideas. Janet. My dad was in the Royal Navy. He worked as a sick berth attendent on this ship. I got this information from his Navy pay record. He was on HMS Camarata????? for about two years 1950 - 1952. He then left it to join HMS Chevron. This suggests something happened on the Camarata because it was unusual to go on two ships one after another. Thanks again for your help Jane

(HMS) Camarata is an STC (Signals Training Centre) in Malta according to a quote from 'portsdown-tunnels.org.uk'.

If your father served on a TRAWLER are you sure that he was Nay and not Merchant Navy? A Trawler in 1950 could mean a fishing trawler. Janet

Just looked on Google. Is it a naval barracks on Malta? Another site suggests it could be a sub!

According to my dad's pay record he served on a trawler called HMS camarata. I typed this name on the search enginge and nothing came up. I guess it is a typing error. Does anyone know what ship it could be. It may not even be a trawler?? He served on it in 1950. Thanks for your help Jane
