I need opinions on these names. I have found a baptism with the mothers name Joanna, the marriage says Jane, another siblings baptism has hannah, another Johannah. Do you think they are definately all the same person. I think I have found her baptism, which has Jane. I'm totally confused. |

Hi Diana I would say Joanna, Hannah and Johanna are definitely the same. Not so sure about Jane. It doesn't quite rhyme phonetically does it? I've found that names often got changed - even on certificates. I've just received the birth and death certificates for a great aunt. On the birth certificate she is Alice Louise Bell and on her death certificate she's Louisa Bell. Maybe your rellie was Jane Joanna... or Jane Hannah - that would sound more like Johanna. |
