Hi Sallyann, You can try Familysearch.org and freebmd they may give you a start, on familysearch you can view the 1881 census and the IGI, if you look to the left and click on the resource centre it will give you other useful sites and I am sure others on here will give you some very good tips. Good luck.

Sallyann, Please ask away on this site, I am sure someone will help you. Otherwise check familysearch the mrmon site. this is free and has the 1881 census, IGI and more. Try also freebmd and all the other links in the resources section of this site. But most of all ask all your living relatives. They are the only ones who can give first hand information. Good luck and welcome to the mad house Bob

Welcome! You soon will be as obsessed (and mad) as us. You can try Ancestry.com which also gives births marriages and deaths (sh, sh......when it is working). You don't need to subscribe to get these. Genuki will give you loads of information and access to directories. Well worth takjing a look at. Think I started here. Then of course, there are the boards here. We're all mad as hatters, working into the wee hours. Have fun and good luck. Jackie
