Hello Tom.....have you tried FreeBMD to try and find Martin's birth? Just had a quick look myself, just entering M for christian name....No Martin Pettengell between 1900 and 1920, but one PETTENGELL Male June Quarter 1903 Rochford 4a 739. Of course, Free BMD is not complete, but if you can find a possible match on there you can then check it against the original records on the pay-to-view site 1837 Online, and order the birth certificate. Good luck Dierdre X

I am Thomas Pettengell, son of a Thomas John Pettengell who I am trying to research, have had a lot of useful info from Lisa Byrne and am still trying to work round it. However, One thing I am puzzled about is that I am a product of my fathers second marriage and by the first marriage he had a son MARTIN but I cannot find any trace of him, have no idea whre he was born or when, gussing I reckon around 1910. Also I amended my family tree to show me as Thomas John Martin Pettengell and it now shows the latter as my grandfather how the heck can I amend it?? thanks for any more help. Tom Pettengell
