Hi Christel

I have just recently started tracing my Dad's foster family.........Kempster. My 'GGrandfather''s family all came from Aylesbury, big clan of them evidently.

Hi Robin I have been looking at the 1802 Aylesbury John Kempster for a long time, but kept dismissing him because it was Aylesbury. You've given me a different view of him now, thank you! Would you know how I can "view the original"? Many thanks Christel

The only records that were kept prior to 1837 were parish records of baptisms. However, even these baptismal dates do not necessarily reflect the birth dates. Persons could be baptised at any age. Sometimes they were baptised before they were married if they had not been baptised as infants or babies. Generally, if there was no baptism there will be no record. John

Not quite sure what it is you are looking for? If it is just the date then try to see the Bishop's Transcripts. If you want a photocopy of the original, then that is no good.

Have you tried any non conformist churches or were they perhaps Roman Catholic. A lot of my husbands side were catholic over the years, not always staying so, and those records are not usually at the County Record Office. They are more likely to still be at the church or in the Diocese offices, in my case Birmingham. Margaret

My brick wall is JOHN KEMPSTER. I have a copy of his marriage entry in 1826. He and his family are on the 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1881 Census, where his birthplace always says Heath or Heath & Reach, Bedfordshire. I have a copy of his death certificate in 1881 at the age of 79 in Heath & Reach. His baptism is not registered in the Parish Register. Does anyone know what else I can try? This is driving me mad!!! Help pleeeeeeese Christel
