Is the name Madge short for Margaret or Mary or what ? Or would it have been in 1881 a name in its own right? I thought Polly was nickname for Mary?? Anyone know for sure ? thankyou Kim |

I think it's from Margaret unless as in more recent times, it's Madonna! |

Kim, Madge can be a name in it's own right. My Mother-in-Law was named Madge, born 1903. |
