Lesley, You need to order her birth certificate and this will give you her parent's names. Once you have those, you might be lucky and find them on the 1901 census with other children. What was her name? Crista

Hi Lesley, Once you have the birth cert. for your Grandmother, you can then start looking through the register for her siblings. To do this, you look for the surname and and then run down the mothers' maiden name. Hopefully at least one of the surnames will be unusual enough to make you think that you have the right couple. I would look 10 years before the birth and maybe as much as 15 years after depending on the age of the parents. I hope that makes sense!!!! Incidentally, her marriage cert. will not give her d.o.b. only her age.

Hello Janet, thanks for your input, hopefully the marriage cert., will have her parents names on it then I will have to send off for the 4 birth cert., and whittle it down from there, Living over in Cyprus at the moment is not helping matters at all I have discovered. Not even my Dad know's anything about my grandma or her family, she died when my dad was only 2yrs. and no one has ever been allowed to speak of her, apparently my grandad Albert Halliwell may not have been my Dad's father. I have managed to get a list of graveyards in Wakefield uk I was thinking that if I can find out where she was buried or cremated there might be some info there as well. Lesley

Depending on how common her father's first name is on the marriage certificate, this might help you to eliminate or select a likely family in the 1901 index, if her parents were married by then. Her brothers or sisters may show as marriage witnesses, - if you are lucky.
