Does anyone know where I would find the nearest church to a address in 1924. I want to try searching parish registers to find a wedding, but need to find churches that were in the vicinity of the address. the address is 22 Miranda Road, Highgate, London

If you could get hold of the Kelly's directory for the area this lists residents street by street and would have major building such as a church. Zoe

Zoe thanks will try that when I sort out a trip to london. Need to go to the LMA, so perhaps they will have maps with the nearby churches.

Siobhan the LMA holds copies of all the Kelly directories for london so you shouldbe able to find what you're after there

Hi Siobhan, My daughter lives in Highgate, I will ask her if she knows of Miranda Rd and the nearest church. Don`t hold out too much hope though as she is a student at uni and London - now if it was a pub you wanted finding, that would be different! Will let you know. Regards, Frances

Hi Siobhan, If you go into www(.)streetmap(.)co(.)uk type in Miranda Road it will take you to a street map of the Highgate area and the local Churches are shown with a + Remove brackets first. Dave

Siobhan If only you'd have asked this question last week, I had work that way and drove right past it! If you phone the Archway library I'm sure they'd know. I have a map with churches on and I can't see a church in that Road. The number of the library is 020 7527 7820 Lynda

Hi Siobhan, According to findachurch these are the ones in the Highgate area:- Highgate Cholmeley Evangelical Church 272 Archway Road Highgate London N6 5AU Tel: 020 8347 9658 St. Augustines Church (CE), Langdon Park Rd, N6 (020) 8340 3567 St. Michaels C of E South Gro, N6 (020) 8340 7279 All Saints C of E Highgate URC St Joseph Catholic Church I can't find addresses for the last 3. Hi Dave none of these match the names of the road where these churches are situated. In 1924 it was more likely to be Upper Holloway than Highgate, even then I cannot find the names of these churches. I think my best bet is to wait till I arrange a visit to the LMA. Hi Siobhan, Try contacting the nearest records office or main library. My local Records Office in Liverpool has a list of all churches, old and new, in Liverpool and where they are located. Lilian
