We have just done exactly that for our own house we live in. my daughter wanted to know who was living in before us. The local main library for the area holds directories for each year , ours goes back to 1899. They are listed alphabetically by person in the front and . Each street is listed in the back with the main householder under each house number, doesn't give all the inhabitants though. KIM

Have you looked at any of the Directories such as Kellys. There are some private residences listed in them. I came across the house where my g.aunt was servant by typing in the name of the house. It listed the owner name. Try searching the name of the road. www.historicaldirectories.org Regards Helena

Is there any way of finding out who the occupants of a house in Carshalton, Surrey were in 1918? I believe there was no electoral roll at this time. I have tried the 1901 census to see if by any chance the same family was there, but cannot find the house number and have searched numerous entries for the same street. Any ideas? jackie
