My G.G.Grandmother was Annie Morgan, but the earliest record I have for her is on the 1881 Liverpool census. According to census' and certs. she was born in Witton park/Bishop Auckland,Durham in 1864. However I can not find her birth anywhere. Do you think her name at birth could have been something different? There is an Adeline Morgan born the right year in Durham. Is this too far fetched? Am I just clutching at straws? Or shall I chance getting the cert?

Hi Diane. I've mainly searched in Canada, so I don't have any answers for you, but... I couldn't find anything on an ancestor born in England. I finally received a clue of his possible birthplace and due to the kindness of a relative, received the address of two local churches. I ordered birth, marriage and burial records from one of the churches (THAT was expensive!) and there he was! He does not show up on the LDS records; I BELIEVE the church did not allow the LDS to copy their records, and he was born in 1826, so I wasn't sure where else to look. Perhaps a local church might have your records? (This was in Essex, by the way.) PS A friend's daughter is known as Annie; however, her name is actually Angela.

Thank you, lisa and She. Annie's parents were Michael Morgan and Susan Murray,so sadly these are not the right ones. Once again thanks for trying

Being christened Adeline but known as Annie isn't too far fetched, is it. As you know her parents' names, why not apply for the certificate conditional upon the father's name being correct; then, if its wrong, you won't be charged the full £7, but you will know whether or not this is the right one. Jan.
