What a nice thing to happen! I would love to be able to thank my great grandfather who hid his diary for 1902 at the back of his desk for me to find last year, with dates for his parents, uncles and aunts, photographs and dates of birth, marriage, names of spouses and addresses back to 1870. It seems like it was waiting for me to find it since the desk had passed down to my late grandfather and onto me recently when my father died, having never discovered it. What treasures we can stumble upon! Hope your research goes from strength to stregnth. A

Hi Naomi, What a wonderful find for you, it's almost like their helping from the other side! When i was about 11 my nans sister in law died as there were no kids on that side of the family my nan had to sort through things. she gave me memorial cards for my gt grandparents, some certificates and even a bible that belonged to my 2x gt grandmother all of which she found in her sister in laws house. I often think if it wasn't for things like this we wouldn't be here now doing this. Best of luck Michele

This is just to let you know that even though my Mum passed on 12 years ago when I was 18, I'm sure she's helping me now in my search. I was just going through an old box of bits and pieces when I came accross a large envelope, inside were lots of wonderful bits and bobs. Quite a few in Memoriam cards including the ones for my Great Grandparents giving their dates of death (which I'd already searched for at the record office) but also including which cemetary they are at and even grave numbers. Also a lot of old pictures again including Great Grandparents, all labelled already so I know who they are. Maybe this should encourage every body to get in their lofts and search! Naomi
