Hi all I was sat here thinking a much easier way to keep track of your postings. If you could have the same idea of, who you emailed to apply to which threads you have asked for help in. I know in the past I have asked for help in one thread completely forgot then asked for someone else to help and in effect wasted their time which I hate doing as I am so greatful people are doing look ups in the first place. It could be along the lines of your contacts except it would be your threads perhaps just keep them for a week or so. Do the owners of GC read this or is it better to email my ideas? Jan x

I contacted GC last week about this same thing, and asked if perhaps they could put an indicator on the threads so that we all know which ones we've contributed to (ie. a bit like the Names Summary lists where it tells you in red which ones you've contacted). I received a fairly standard response back, thanking me for my suggestion, that it would be kept on file but please understand they can't take on board all suggestions etc... The threads that we initiate are fairly easy to keep track of because our own name is beside them and they are in a different colour so they stands out... but, like you, I find it very difficult to keep track of all the other various threads that I have contributed to and have an interest in.

Hi Janet & Linda, When you open a thread you will see the thread number in the address bar at the top of the screen. Keep a note of it and if you want to return to it at a later date open any thread, delete it'a number from the address bar, type in the number of the thread you are wanting, press go and this should open the one you want. Some time ago I wrote to GC and asked if we could have a "Go to Message No. ..." box. Of course, I received their standard reply ........ Jan.

what a shame it is such a good idea I know a lot of message boards have this function I even had one I think it was ancestry that emailed you every time someone replied to a threat you had participated with maybe Ill have to go back to basics. Jotting with pen and paper to remind me what I have asked and not!!! :)

Hi Dave Yes, I know I can keep a note of thread numbers - but if you could see how many bits of paper I'm already surrounded by... If GC can do it for Your Names, surely it wouldn't be so difficult on the boards?
