Shucks. Was going to mention it, then I thought I'd do my own lookups quick before everybody else found out :-) Up to now, if I couldn't find anybody, I assumed it was because the indexing wasn't finished. Now we can only blame the transcription. So far tonight I've found Emma Matthews as Enna Marthers, Sawyers as Lawyers and Lizy as Sery, and only by some very "lateral" searches. None of them was actually hard to read on the image I printed off a few images and compared them directly with the transcriptions ("search" by piece/folio/page) and wasn't too impressed, even by comparison with the 1901 Does anybody know anything about how Ancestry do these transcriptions?

Oh I am glad I have taken out a years subcription then, get 2 months free so 14 months in total. Any idea when it is to be available on Ancestry???? I have to say though for the cost Ancestry charge, the only thing it has been good for is the 1891 census. So wouldn't say it is worth the money as yet, but if they are putting the 1871 on there as well, then it will be. As long as they don't up the subscription price again.

The 1891 on Ancestry is nowhere near finished surely? As you can still trawl through all the unindexed returns, and there are alot of them!

Hi all, I was disappointed too, to find that my 'missing' rellies, have still not appeared since the 'final update'. On further investigation, I have found that the whole of Usworth, Co. Durham is missing!!! (That's where many were in 1891) Many names are there, in other districts, but the pages either won't download at all, or are completely black! I'm not impressed. I was looking for a link to e-mail them to point out these problems, but could only find the one in the help section, which I have used before and NEVER even received a reply to. I can only hope the 1871 will be more successful?! All that said, the 1891 on Ancestry has proved invaluable to me and well worth the subscription cost on it's own. As for the cost, it doesn't say, but would imagine it will remain as it is now. Free to search, but you will have to subscribe to view the images. Debbie
