It's a lovely place, and I expect if you try Google images you'll come up with a picture of the church. Heaps of ancestors come from there and Cley of windmill fame. Cley church is my favourite church under heaven. Have looked at the records for both parishes in situ. We were left in the vestry and I scribbled furiously all day. Saw the records for Cley after dark. Happy days. Brenda

From Pat in Norfolk If you need any further help on Blakeney, Norfolk please get in touch. I live just a few miles from Blakeney now, but was born and grew up there.

If I recall the place correctly, if you take the boat trip don't leave your car on the hard if it's Spring tide unless you want to come back and find it's been sitting in a foot or so of sea water. Unless the insurance value is more than you would be able to flog it for, that is. LOL

There is a Gunthorpe in North Norfolk. It's about 5 miles inland between Fakenham and Holt. It's not that far from Blakeney. Is this the Gunthorpe you mean? I guess they are about 6 miles apart. Incidentally Blakeney is a lovely place to visit. Take a trip to the point and see the seals. John

hi Jackie There is a parish of Blakeney in Norfolk, its in the district of Walsingham. I found it on this website- www.genealogy.doun.org/transcriptions/index.php It is the Norfolk Transcription archive and includes some records and interesting links for Norfolk. You haven't got any Batterbee's by any chance have you?- my Family are from Wood Dalling, Mattishall that area. HTH Julie Tebb

I have just had some lookups for Gunthorpe at an LDS Centre which seemed very promising until I checked the Parish of Blakenby out on Parloc. Blakeney came up as being 166 miles away -in Glos. Could they have sent the wrong fiches or was there in fact a Blakeney in Norfolk? If you can help, please get in touch Jackie
