Just a word of warning so none of you are caught out as I have just been if you join Ancestry(.)com. I have just tried to cancel my subscription but have been told that I signed up for an annual subscription so they will continue to take my monthly credit card payments for a whole year. I have re-read their terms and conditions and they are worded very ambigously. I thought I would let you know so none of you fall into the same trap.

Caroline: If I were you, I would contact my credit card company and advise them that payment is not to be made to Ancestry. That or cancel the credit card....either way, that would stop them from hitting your credit card.

I tried to access Ancestry yesterday and the site would not let me look at anything! I checked back on my e mails and noted down the dates and account number of my subscription and e mailed them direct. They have come back to me today with profuse apologies and resurrected my account. My sub should not have been cancelled for another 2 months. They could not have been more helpful.
