On my Grandfathers birth certificate his mother is listed as Eliza Poyntz formerly Goodyear. I have found her marriage certificate from 1888 and it says that Eliza Goodyear was married to William Robert Poynts and that her father was William E Goodyear. Last week I went to the FRC to try and find out more about her. I found a death certificate for an Emma Eliza Poyntz in the right district and would be for the correct age according to the marriage cert. I received the death cert this morning. It is definitely her but it says the death was reported by E.V Goodyear (daughter). This suggests to me that she had a daughter out of wedlock and then possibly went on to have another 6 children during her marriage. She was 29 when she married. On the 1891 census there is a Robert & Eliza Poynts (again the spelling differs but is definitely right) but her age is as 35, on the 1901 Census she is listed as Eliza Poynts aged 42. There are her children listed all as Poynts and the only one that begins with an E is Emily Poynts who was 7months at the time of the census in 1901. So who is E V Goodyear?? Naomi

The Census's say she was born in Lambeth and she definitely died in Hammersmith London.

If she had an natural daughter it would probably have been born between 1875 and 1888. I have identified eleven births from FreeBMD that could fit the bill. There is an Emily Maud Goodyear born in Camberwell in Dec 1876 Gary

Leigh, He's a Housepainter. Gary, If she did have a natural daughter could it be she didn't live with Eliza until after Eliza's husband died in 1916 then? Naomi

Ooh I hadn't thought of that. I'll have a look and see if I can spot anything. Naomi
