One of my best friends at school in Liverpool was called Midge..it was a diminutive for Marjorie.

My Aunt Madeleine is known as Midge. But she is also small and could be viewed as annoying by some! Gary

Maggie, I always thought that Midge was an affection abbreviation of Margaret ( and my book backs that up too!) But equally, you could call anyone smaller than yourself Midge too! lol Eleanorx

My daughter had a friend called Midge who was really Charlotte - apparently she was a very tiny baby (midget) and the name stuck until well into her teens!

My Dad's Aunties were Clara Rebecca and Henrietta Harriet - any idea why he called one of them Aunty Midge? Maggie
