As i cannot find my great great grandmother on it, but i know that she was married and had a son by 1881, but can only find her husband in some Barracks on York. Would i be able to find her on the discs?? Thanks, Nicola

So what is her full name' What would be her approximate age in 1881... Do you know where she was born? I will check the discs for you. It is possible that she was mis transcribed.

For information, the online 1881 is the same as the disc version. Bob

there is a slight difference. The discs cover Scotland where the online version does not. Regards, Siobhan

Wow, thanks for all the replies!! After i'd posted this, i decided to have another look on the 1881 site, after having an idea (a rarity in itself, but the idea actually worked!!) As her forename and surname and age change as frequently as the weather, i decided that maybe she was staying with family if her hubby was in the army, so i typed her maiden name in the 'head of household' box, and just her first name and where born, and she appeared wiht her son, so i now know the names of her parents too!! YAY! And i've learnt the differences between the online census and the discs, so i'm v. happy! Hapy New Year, Nicola
