An after thought on my last reply on this thread, winzip program is what you need and can be found at www(.)winzip(.)com......if there are multiple attachments, and you said there was, it's definately the fact that you need a program that "unzips." Single attachments need no special program to open, which is why you had no problem before opening an attachment. Download the free version at the site mentioned above and you'll be able to open those multiple attachment e-mails. Any problems, feel free to e-mail me! Good luck!

Thank you to everyone for help and advice it's much appreciated - I've booked a session with an 'expert' for some one to one tuition. These 'complicators' should come with a health warning lol !. Sue.

Sue, try saving the attached gif or jpg. Then use Windows Explorer to go to the directory where you saved it. Then use your mouse right hand button to click the gif or jpg, a small menu will show, look for the option "Open with" move the mouse to "Open with" and you should see "Internet Explorer" now click that, you will then see the image. If you are feeling brave you could make XP always automatically open gif or jpg in "Internet Explorer" by selecting "Open with" then selecting “Choose Program” from there you can select Internet Explorer and tick the “Always use the selected….” box.

More than likely, the mail being sent to you has more than one attachment. In order to open mail with more than one attachment you need a program to "unzip" the file. (Your computer doesn't come with this type of program, you have to know to download it.) One of my favorites can be found at www(.)winamp(.)com. Download and install the program. Go back and find the file on your computer, right click on it and OPEN WITH WINAMP. Any problems, send me an e-mail. Judy

Bob - it's Windows XP - when I open the attachment - I get the Windows picture and fax viewer - I'm sure i've used this before with no bother - but there just seems to be nothing there !!!!!!!!!! If I need special software, where would I get it from and would it be expensive ? Sue.

What version of windows are you using? To open any file gif or jpg or whatever Your computer needs software that can recognise it. When you click on the attatchment is the computer asking which program you wish to open it with? If so windows paint can open gifs and jpgs. Bob
