Thank you Christine. I shall write as soon as I have time. (Busy with end-of-the-year things.) I'll keep you informed.

Hi Lisa, Some of my family came from Essex too so I would be interested to know a bit more about this also. On Anthony Delaney's "Good websites" pg 1 Penny Turner has SEAX as one of her favourites - maybe emailing her would help. Christine

Thank you Dierdre for trying to help me. I did type it in "correctly" the first time, as I was very careful with how I was entering all of the information. Even tried typing that exact date, thinking how could it possibly NOT work. Even tried typing 01/01/1860 (well, I was very frustrated at the time). Also, cancelled and started over and used their / / instead of my own. Also tried 01-01-1960. I guess it's just not meant to be. Thanks for your suggestion, though.

Presumably you did put any necessary zero's in? i.e. 01/01/1960 and definitely typed it the English way round? Day then Month then Year? Dierdre X

I believe I found an ancestor's record on SEAX (Essex Archives Online) but it will not allow me to register. I typed my birthdate with the format dd/mm/yyyy and it just keeps telling me to enter it correctly. (I DID! I retried 5 times.) Any suggestions?
