THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I did have a short list of esthers and Esther Condy was a strong possibility. I have since found Esther Condy's birth which is in Chorlton also and have found 3 Thomas's and 1 Florence born in the right years in Chorlton. I was a bit unsure as the address Dougill street is listed as being in Bolton. Just to say Thank you again your all great Elke

The usual way to find a marriage is to start searching around a year before the first child was born. Try 1837online. If you know which registration district the area they lived is in, it shouldn't take long. If you don't know the district, look on www(.)genuki(.)uk Margaret

Hi Elke It would help if you gave the town or village where Dougill Street is found. Otherwise the search is impossible. Could either of these marriages be useful? Sep 1896, Thomas Lloyd & Esther Thomas, Carmarthen 11a 1557; Jun 1897, Thomas Lloyd & Esther Condy, Chorlton 8c 1248. Best wishes Stan

The census number won't help you, I'm afraid. However, marriages for the 1890s are over 90% complete on FreeBMD. Have you tried searching for Thomas Lloyd and Esther there? It might give you a shortlist, then check for people with that surname born around the birth year you have. Update - I tried searching for their marriage but without a county, it's too big.

I might try and look. Where and when do you think they were married? Lucia
