Try: http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ This is a pay site, acosting £6 for 48 hours, but that buys you various searches and even images (30 credits), and if you don't use all the credits you can carry them forward and add them to your next £6 next time. Generally speaking the site is very user friendly and far easier to find what you want than, say 1837online is. Also, being a government site, it is complete, rather than being the hit and lisss affair that FreeBMD remains. With my mother being Scottish, I managed to go back 4 generations in about 4 days, something that has taken me 4 months on my English side. At least the Scots seem to be good at something after all.... |
