Joan, when I was new to GC I would check my ordinary emails every day in the hope that someone would contact me. It was some time before I discovered that emails went into "My Contacts". When I looked there were emails from people who must have been feeling just like you do now. I contacted everyone and apologised but I think this is a common problem. Either I, and a lot of other people, have missed something or this fact needs a bit more publicity for new members. Assume this has happened to your emails and you will feel a lot better. If this is not the case, well sod 'em! Nobby.

My experience is that any replies or contacts always come in to Outlook Express, and Your Contacts only allows to recall what you asked. I've given up on asking anyone about possible connections as I've never received any answers at any time, although I always reply to any queries sent to me. Some did mention a short time ago that filters on people's emails can cause your query to land with the junk and get deleted, so that may be happening in some cases. A pity a good idea doesn't seem to work.

I've had two replies this week from contact emails i sent in september and october. Each one was very pleased that i had contacted them and had very reasonable reasons for their delay in replying. I know it can be frustrating but don't give up hope. Not everyone has the addictive tendencies i have to check everyday! Alison

Hi Joan Yes, very frustrating isn't it. I think part of the problem is that you don't have to be a member (correct me if I'm wrong) to add your tree. So people come onto the site willy nilly, add a few names, then never visit the site again. Also, as GC has been going more than a year now, perhaps some people haven't renewed their membership. I think it would be helpful if, when you clicked to email the person, it told you when they last used the site. Jeanette

I agree with Joan. A simple message saying "Sorry" would not go amiss. I believe that Jeanette is right about not having to be a member in order to post your tree. But even if you get the message through Outlook Express or some other mail program, it still shows their e-mail adress which you can reply to. Seasons Greetings to everyone (including the non-repliers!)

I'm not a member, so I can't initiate contact. However, I can receive emails and, once they are in my inbox, there is no reason why I cannot hit 'reply' and answer them. Providing they get there, that is!
