I after many weeks, days and hours have transcribed the census pages for Allenton, Derby for the years 1901, 1891, 1881. If anybody feels they may have an interest here i will be glad to send you a copy in word or .pdf. The new hamled of Allenton was built around 1877/78 by Issac Allen, he laid out the 5 streets of terraced houses, shops, school and a pub the Crown Hotel of which he was the first lanlord, the hamlet stands on the road between Derby and Melbourne, about 2 miles from Derby, it was at first a part of the parish of Alvaston, the houses attracted people from all over England for the wealth of jobs just up the road at the Midland Railway works, only a small number from Derby itself, the people who lived there started calling it Allen's Place, then Allens Town, then it ended up as Allenton. a lot of new housing was built around it in the 1930s and it became a suberb of derby, you never know your relatives may have moved there ?.
