We have bigger problem, we have yet to find the original (if there is one ) of my wifes father, John Mccalpin born 1914 Birmingham uk, We need this certificate to try and find Johns birth father, Samuel Mccalpin, Samuel died in 1914 war, We have only his Name Rank serial number and regiment no mention of parents wife or where he was from? Johns mother remarried, When my wife was a little girl she would enqire about her grandfather but it fell on deaf ears, They seemed to shove things under the carpet in those days? We will have to make further enquires with what is left of Johns step sisters. Philip palmer.

I know the feeling Linda I have 3 marriage records stating father William norris and 3 death records stating father Jeremiah Edward Norris. I know they are the correct records as the death records mention their spouses and mother, dates and places are all accurate. Its really confusing Shona

Linda Are they from the GRO, i.e. are they the photocopy types of the original image? or, are they from a local register office and are handwritten or typed? If they are from a local reg, I would ring them and ask them to recheck. Could be a mistake on their part. Margaret

I have birth certs with incorrect info on it, in one example it is because the informant was the father and he didnt know his wifes maiden name!

I received a birth certificate and a marriage certificate this week. The birth certificate was for Ann Maria Mason (gt grandma) stating mother as Mary Ann Mason and father as James Mason. But the marriage certificate of Ann Maria Mason states a George Mason as her father, but one of the witnesses was a James Mason. I'm positive the marriage certificate is a 100% correct as it matched with my other info. But can't confirm anything on the 1881 census as I can't find her under either George or James Mason
