I understand that the database for Ancestry.com is the same as FreeBMD. But if you put the same searches into both one will come up with more answers than the other! I find searching the two together is the best result. Grahame

I think it is quite interesting, that Freebmd do say that their records are not complete but that it is not quite so obvious on the Ancestry site that theirs is incomplete too. KIM

I think Freebmd and ancestry use the same database for BMD data. If you look at the freebmd front page - six lines or so up from the bottom it list ancestry.com as one of its sponsors

Janet so Ancestry Births deaths and Marriages is incomplete too... interesting Shelli

You don't have to pay on Ancestry for that particular information - that's free! You only have to pay for the 1891 census and other documents and directories.

I know FreeBMD isn't complete but I thought ancestry was that why you have to pay!!!! Shelli

No need to be sorry, Kim! I think they are both the same - they appear to be. The LDS Family Search site is different, though, and they do occasionally update it, although not as frequently as Free BMD, but it is worth checking from time to time.

Oh, I SEE. I was missing the point I thought the transcription would include all under one refrence at a time.......but of course it isn't yet finished...Is the list on ancestry the same as free bmd?In other words is it worth checking both or are they merely the same info in a different website? sorry KIM

Janet

Kim It's because the transcription of the records is not yet complete. Hope this helps.

why on free bmd and ancestry when you look marriages up are there sometimes only 3 brides and 1 groom or the other way round ,surely an equal number should be under each reference code? or am I missing the point ? KIM
