Hello Kevin You can write to Her Majesty's Coroner for the City of Birmingham and the Borough of Solihull, Coroners Court, 50 Newton Street, Birmingham B4 6NE. Tel: 0121 303 3966. Give them all the details you can. Name, Date of birth, and when the incident happened. Just about as much as you can to help them locate the records. They do have them going back quite a long way. You need to send a cheque for £7.70 made payable to Birmingham City Council. Don't forget the SAE. Good Luck Shirley

Hi Kevin, you may also be able to find a report on the inquest from local newspapers of that time. Your local library might have the newspapers on microfilm which are usually free to view but if you want a photocpy there is usually a very small charge, about 10 to 20p per photocopy. Jane

I think it depends on the particular office. I had an inquest on one of mine in 1892 but the coroners office didnt keep records back that far. However I have heard of some that do. Try ringing the office to see. You could also check on the PRO or a2a to see if the papers have been deposited anywhere. I did find all the paperwork for a murder in 1905 through the PRO. Regards Helena

Can anyone tell me how I can get information about an inquest. On the death certificate of my relative who died in Birmingham it says that an Inquest was held dated 1884. Is it possible to get any paper work on this? Kevin
