Malcolm! Shame on you! Christmas is the one time of year when an email just isn't the same! I've just got home to find 56 emails waiting for me (mostly genealogy ones from various lists that I seem to have got myself linked up with) but wading through these wasn't nearly so much fun as getting home and wading across a doormat ankle-deep in cards and trying to guess whose handwriting was on the envelope... And you can't beat a lounge and hallway full of cards to make the house feel Christmasy! At any other time of year, I'm with you... emails are cheap and quick - but not at Christmas!

Barbara, I wouldn't mind some instructions in word for typing labels. I have the stationery but couldn't work out how to do it. Every year I say that I am going to get my addresses etc. on the computer but never manage it. Georgina

I'm now feeling quite virtuous... my Christmas cards and letters are written, stamped, sealed and ready to post. However, licking all those envelopes is thirsty work... so I have a good excuse to sit with one final cup of coffee whilst I check the Boards one last time to see if I've missed something!!! Access is brilliant for Christmas lists - as it not only produces all those address labels at the press of a button, but also keeps track of who you sent cards to last year and who didn't send you one last year! And, actually, the envelopes of the last few cards I bought in Marks & Spencer didn't even need licking as they were self-seal. All the more time for the Boards!

When you get round to doing yours could you do mine as well please? I had such plans this weekend, but I received a piece of information from a distant cousin and .......woops there went the weekend.

Is it nearly Christmas then? ARGHHHHHH When someone says 25th December to me my first thought is, ooh a lot of my relations got married or baptised on 25th December. A

Could someone please tell me why I am sitting here, flipping backwards and forwards from the Tips Board to Record Office Board, looking up names on the VRI for myself and others, double checking my Tree, struggling against the temptation to have one more look at 1837 Online... when what I REALLY SHOULD be doing is writing the rest of my Christmas cards so that I can get them in the post first thing tomorrow morning... My poor friends have been so neglected this year thanks to my Tree and GC, you'd think the least I could do was make sure that got their Christmas greetings before Santa drops down their chimneys.
