Was he the sort of age where he could have gone into the army and died abroad during the war. Maybe if he was, Army records could help. |

I'm having a real problem with my Great grandfather. When he was born in 1855 he was called William Robert Poynts, I have found the family on the 1891 + 1901 census then all of a sudden the spelling changed from an S on the end to a Z. In the 1901 census he was living in Newington, London and was a housepainter. He was born in Camberwell, London and most of my family are from that area so I don't think he'd have moved. After that I can't find any record of his death anywhere. I've looked on Ancestry and tried under the names of William, Robert and lots of variations of Poyntz. All I can find is a Robert Land Poynts who died in 1890. (By the way this was his eldest son) Any ideas greatly appreciated. Naomi |
