Could someone tell me how much £20 was worth in 1913, I have recieved a copy of a will, and I just wondered what it would be worth today? Sue............

Try this www(.)eh(.)net/ehresources/howmuch/poundq(.)php Remove the brackets I got this answer £1214.16 in the year 2002 has the same "purchase power" as £20, in the year 1913

Even more, if you compare it with incomes. Just found a mention that a London copper started on 25/6 a week (£1.28) in 1901, so £20 then was 16 weeks' wages for him, and of course many people earned less than that (By my reckoning £1200 now is only 8 weeks full time wages at the legal minimum wage rate)
