What numbering systems do you use?

I use cumberland family tree, and that numbers individuals with IRN numbers which are easily searched from the programme. You can also search by name. Personally, I prefer to stick to names. I didnt realise there were so many numbering systems. |

I have found several - most of which you need a degree in statistics to work out - and I'm curious as to how everyone else manages. Especially people with three thousand ancesters! I've heard that Sosa-Stradonitz (Ahnentafel) is the most common, and it seems to be the easiest to understand. My family tree CD gives details of the Henry, de Villiers/Pama, D'Aboville and Sosa-Stradonitz Systems, but I'd love it if the software could automatically work out who was which number.
