linking trees?

how can i link someones tree to mine? we are related & have the same names in our trees, but under her name on my contacts im not given the link option. can anyone tell me what to do? please thanks. gina

i don't think it's up to that person to allow you because one of my contacts who isn't being very cooperative has the link option against his name!!!

IIRC you can only link names if you have been given acces to the corresponding tree. Doubtless someone will correct me if I am wrong.......... What I haven't found yet is the "Unlink" button !

Have a look in the F.a.q.?help section on the left, it does explain linking and unlinking but it looks quite complicated. happy reading, see if you can fathom it then let us know! Bye KIM

i have access to the tree i want to link to. i don't have access to the ones it gives me the option to link to! iykwim

right! i think iirc. if you reply to someones search message you don't get the link option but if you contact them off some other list then you do!?! i think. so i've sent my contact a msg to e-mail me back & we'll see if the option comes up. :-)))

I had someone link to my tree, who thought there was a connection when there really wasn't. I had to delete him from my contacts in order to delete his link to my tree.
