Don't forget that some signed up under false names, because of their age aor some other reason. The CWGC site does have some "alias" names on the records, but obviuosly they cannot know them all, especially if the serviceman came out alive at the end of it all. Paul

Hi Tracey, my favourite bugbear! I'd agree with your previous reply. I am just about to go to France to dig up every soldier buried there to find my relly who DEFINITELY died there, I know his regiment, date of birth.eyc etc etc but guess what? According to CWGC he doesn't exist! Take every thing with a pinch of salt! Good luck with the hunting.

Don't know what anyone else thinks but I would not assume anything, he may only have given his mothers name as his next of kin. One of my pre 1st WW soldiers did just that but his father was still alive. Sue.

Hi Everyone, I found one of my rellies on the CWGC site and it shows his mother as his parent but not his father. Would it be safe to assume that his father had already died by this time or not? Thanks for any opinions. Tracey
