How do I delete a relationship without deleting a

I had entered a family, identifying them all as children of their father. On receiving his marriage cert, I then entered his wife. All the children now show her as their mother. The problem is that the dates didn't tie up, the first child was born before the marriage. So I did some digging and discovered a previous marriage. I've now entered the first wife's name - but the first child still doesn't show her as his mother. How do I remove the mother-son relationship with the 2nd wife that is currently shown and replace it with the correct mother-son relationship with the 1st wife ?? Ann

Ann...... You will have to delete all the children within that family and the different partners.....then Put in the names for the 1st marriage. Then add the second marriage names..... Then I find it best to add the children through the Father That way you add the right parents to the right Child.

Mike, Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the 2nd wife is my gt gt grandmother - so I would be deleting my gt grandfather and presumably would need to delete all his offspring - including myself.............. I thought that I had added all the children (with the exception of my gt grandfather who was already there) as children of their father. But when I added a wife for him - she seems to have been automatically assigned as their mother. Oh well - at least when I get this sorted - I know that I have to check for a first wife before adding the children. Ann

Ok - I've managed to delete the 2nd wife's parents. Looks as though I now need to delete all her children except my gt grandfather - before I can delete her......... There are about 8 of them --------- Oh well

Success - If I just delete the child with the wrong mother, and re add him as the child of the correct mother that works. The wives appear in the wrong order in the chart - but I'll live with that.
