Hi, it's taken about six months to solve this puzzle and as soon as I solved it, it seems I've hit a brick wall. I have three photographs of a woman taken in the early 1870s. One taken in 1871 is in the same spot as a photo of my GG Grandfather. She signed one of the photographs taken in 1873 as "Meggie" with a surname that is very hard to read. She looks like my aunt, my second cousin and my second cousin's mother. Despite our efforts we could not work out who she was, as there were no Margarets in our tree. Then recently we found that a cousin of our GG Grandfather was called Margaret Baker (bn 1850 Barnard Castle, Durham). Finally found her marriage to a James Nicholson in 1872 (they married in the Registry Office - no wonder I could not find them in any Church records!). However I cannot find them anywhere on the 1881 or 1901 Census. Could someone help me out with a lookup on the 1891 Census? James Nicholson - Head - bn c1850 - Wool scourer; Margaret Nicholson - Wife - bn 1850 Barnard Castle, Durham. (And if any of you want to see the photos then I would be happy to email a copy) Thanks in advance, Paul

Thanks for looking. It's strange they both vanished from Barnard Castle after their marriage. I wonder if they emigrated? Paul
