I tend to order certificates from the office where they were registered, or where the registers have been moved to if closed. I sent off for one on Wednesday and received it this morning. I always enclose a Stamped addressed envelope, which makes it easier for them, and if your info is wrong, they refund the full £7, not just part of it.

I have ordered several certifificates over the past few months. I have found the service to be excellent - all ordered on line, and delivery received within a week. All been correct as well, and a huge help in my research. Worth every penny of the £7 so far as I am concerned! Pauline

Thats not bad! I orderd a cert from Southwark via their online service, but somehow their form ate my postcode so they had to email me. I eventually got a cert which was the right one, but then blow me down, three days later I got another copy! Oh well it meant I could send one to my cousin! Not a very fast service sad to say, but then it was in the middle of the postal strike!

Thought I'd like to let everyone know what good service I've just had from Southport. I ordered 8 certificates on the night of Wed 12th Nov. and they all arrived today! Even better they were all the correct ones! Rather grusomely I had ordered 8 death certificates to try and sort out the tragic life of my great grandfather. I was only sure of some of them and took a gamble on the others and as it turns out I had guessed correctly. I was not sure how useful death certs. would be but in fact in the case of wives and children they are identified with the husband/father so you can be sure its right! Anne
