Could Leah be short for Elizabeth?

Rosemary Thank you so much for taking the time to have a look. I have the 1861 Census for Ibstone here and she is aged 34 and born in Ibstone, so I don't think it is the same one. Kind Regards Sarah X |

Hi again Sarah, Just thought, Elizabeth could have been her middle name which she preferred to use. Also some people used to name their children after family members just to keep them happy and not because they liked the name Aileen |

Leah is an old Hebrew name meaning 'tiresome'. I don't believe it is short for anything but people were known to name their children one thing and call them another so I suppose anything's possible!! Aileen |

I am having terrible trouble locating any information about a Leah Norris in the Ibstone/Turville area of Bucks she is on the 1851 census. Could she actually be called Elizabeth? I would appreciate your comments. Confused!...... |
