Hi Marcia, I would hazard a guess that Henrietta's mother died and Jane is James second wife, hence the stepchild found in the household on 1881, perhaps you should look for the death of Sarah on BMD and James marriage to Jane. Good luck Gen Hi again, Just looked on bmd and a Sarah Rowbottom died in Islington in 1872 aged 46 Dec 1b 130. In 1874 a James Rowbottom married in Islington Sep 1b 517, one of the women on the page was Jane Hearne.

hi my gt grandma henrietta jane rowbotham/bottom, was born 24/04/1851 to james and sarah,my problem is that in 1881 her mother is listed as jane, two sisters are missing and have found a stepson, that appears to have been born between two childen of jane and james,do,nt i need to know their address to look on the 1861 for islington/shoreditch/hoxton census? linda looked on the 1871 and found nothing, have sent for henriettas birth certificate, but will that make it clearer, cannot think of any thing else to do would be grateful for any help marcie x
