There is a birth of a Sarah Ann in the following March quarter. Depends how much £7 means to you. I know I can't afford to make mistakes when ordering a cert and usually to limit myself to one a month (don't tell hubby, I ordered three last week) that I am really sure is the right one. This one would be a bit of a guess but I think I would risk it.

Thanks Helen I did look at the marriages and came to the conclusion about the 1959 one but didn't think about entering Nurse in the births and looking at what might be a match....I am still learning and it takes a while to sink in! :o)) Aileenx

Aileen Had a quick look on the FreeBMD website (see resource centre on list on left and click on useful links) Keyed in Samuel Nurse under marriages (no places) and there are two in Wisbeach. On the first one none of the females are called Maria (click on the page number), so don't think this is the one. The one in 1859 hasn't yet had the female names transcribed but would seem the most likley to be your Samuels record. Perhaps you could try searching for Nurse births in Wisbeach starting about six months after the marriage. In my experience this is when the first child usually arrived!!! You could try sending for the birth certificate (£7) which names both parents but also gives the mothers maiden name. You could also have a look on the records board and see if anyone is doing earlier census lookups for the area you want.

Sarah Ann was born in Wisbech but married Robert Bone in West Ham in 1878 when she was 19. It seems that the Nurse family came to East London and settled probably due to employment Aileenx

I've located my gt Grandparents (x 2) on the 1881 census and they were 50 at the time. Their children were obviously married with their own families. I have no idea how many children they had and am wondering how I can find out?Where can I look? If it helps, Samuel Nurse was born approx 1830 in Wisbech, Cambs as was his wife, Maria and daughter Sarah Ann (my gt gran) but they came to East London. Any help would be gratefully received! Aileenx
