Hi Viv, Not sure whether Enfield would come under a London census as I believe it is still in Middx to this day. However, I think someone on the Records Board is doing a 1871 London Census lookup also a names index. Just had a look on the 1881 census and all his children were born in Enfield too, so that takes you back to the eldest one born in 1854. Found a marriage to a Sarah francis on 6 Sep 1843 at All Souls, Marylebone - it needs checking out though. People moved frequently in London because of the appalling housing conditions so its difficult to track them down. Regards, Kathy

Hi Viv, Afraid you'll need the full address for a census lookup for those years. However, since St George in the East comes under the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, you could try the Bancroft Library in Stepney, who have name indices for several parishes within St George in the East area as well as many parish registers. If you want more details, please let me know. Regards, Kathy
