Thanks for the reply Maz, I have checked out 1837online but had no luck with this particular family. I know the British Library will search for me but they charge £35 to do a search and then a further £18 per certificate. Any other advice anyone? Julie

The Army reported BMD of soldiers and their families which are in separate index books at the FRC. You may be able to check them at 1837 online. Maz. XX

What exactly do the army lists tell you? Does anyone have a copy of them? I am searching for info on my great grandfather John Everett McQueen at the time of his wedding in 1893 he was a Sergeant Instructor in the Mussoorie Volunteers, 2nd Royal Irish Regiment in India. Can anyone please help me? Julie
