I wonder if anyone can advise me with a query that has been bugging me for weeks now? I have details of a Hugh Bratchie, born 1839 in Wigan, Lancashire (think I found it on IGI). I have a copy of his marriage certificate to Jane Taylor, married 31st December 1860 in Irvine, Ayr. His parents are listed as David Bratchie (deceased) and Mary Bratchie (nee Dowie). Through links of other Bratchie's that I have, they all seem to come from Scotland so I can only assume that Jane Taylor was from Wigan...maybe not! I cannot find any trace of his parents marriage, his father's death - I have tried Scotlands People, all UK resources I can think of (Ancestry, FreeBMD, LDS) - they seem to have disappeared. Does anyone have any bright ideas or resources that they could check for me? Regards
