advice please - pre 1837 marriages

thank you all for your advice. my marriage was 29 dec 1835 in tottenham. Robert Wacey & Mary Ann Clayden Lister. i think i will contact tottenham in london and try the local library as my first step. many thanks again.

If you try the main library local to where the marriage took place, they will most likely keep parish records of the churches in the area on microfilm, where you can get a photocopy of the marriage record for a few pence. The ones I have do not give much information though. Kathy

Ancestry have the Pallotts Marriage Index avaliable. That goes quite far back but is not as reliable as 1837online etc etc. The info gets vaguer the further you go. I would suggest looking into the Ancestry records though. Email me for more info, if you wish. Hope this helps! -Kat

The best you can hope for is a photocopy from the microfiche of the parish register. Contact the County Record Office concerned. Margaret

Hi, You will need to search the parish records for the marriage entry. You will find names of bride and groom and 2 witnesses and whether or not they were of the parish. Gwynne

i have a marriage in 1835 and wondered where i can apply for the certificate? does anyone know please? many thanks
