Charles if someone has sent you their .ged file, you should be able to open it in "word", but remember, it will not look like a "tree" it is just a long list of text. Kim |

You can download the PAF family tree software free from the LDS family search site. This will allow you to create a Gedcom file of your tree or accept someone elses Gedcom files. |

Charles Kim is right, it will open in wordpad, but you need to pick out the names and dates from the tags. It will something like this, which is the top of mine 0 HEAD 1 SOUR CFTREE 2 VERS CFTREE Windows Ver 2.51 2 NAME Cumberland Family Tree 2 CORP Cumberland Family Software 3 ADDR 385 Idaho Springs Road 4 CONT Clarksville, TN 37043 4 PHON 931 647-4012 1 DEST CFTREE 1 DATE 14 SEP 2003 1 SUBM @S1@ 1 FILE BISSETT.GED 1 GEDC 2 VERS 5.5 2 FORM LINEAGE-LINKED 1 CHAR ANSEL 1 LANG English 0 @S1@ SUBM 1 NAME 1 ADDR 2 CONT 2 PHON 0 @I000001@ INDI |
