Hi, There is no national index for the 1861 census and very few county indexes. The LDS have filmed all of it and, if you know the parish in which they lived, you can order the film at an LDS centre for a small fee and search it there. Some firms sell scans of the original 1861 on CD by county. Some family history societies have indexed the 1861 for their county and a few have transcribed the whole census. You will probably have better luck asking for a look up if you say which town you need. However, it can take hours searching an unindexed census so you may not get a response even then.
