Hi What is exactly recorded when you look up a parish record marriage entry? |

Rodney If it's after 1837, then the same info as a marriage cert. If you can get a copy, cheaper than £7 for the cert. Before 1837, then usually the names of the bride and groom and if they lived in the parish or which parish they lived in. The date of the marriage and the witnesses, who may be friends or family or sometimes the churchwarden or something. Also it will say if they were married by banns or licence. It WON'T say who the bride and grooms father's were. It may say full age or minor. Margaret |

Hi Rodney, From 1837, exactly what you get on a marriage cert from GRO. Before that, much the same, but no occupations, and no fathers names. Rather than witnesses, it says (signed) In the preference of.... Could be parents, or siblings, or anyone at all really. Hope that helps Debbie |
