1, was born in Stoke and the other in warwick ?? I know he was in the army in 66 but do not know what reg , mum said he came from Brimingham ????

Sally First thing - the 6b 358 or whatever - if you look at the entry again it will be set out as follows:- Williams Thomas ..... Lovatt Blackburn, 8c 457 This is the person's name, his Mother's maiden name, and then Blackburn is the town where he was born, 8c is the map reference, and 457 is the page number where it can be found in the original register. You will need to quote all these details (aswell as the year and quarter) when you apply for the certificate. What you need to do (somehow) is find out this guy's Mother's maiden name and then send off for the right certificate. Finding this info isn't that easy as, after 1901 there are no census records to look at. Do you have any other details about this guy at all - where he was born for example. Were both of the possibles born in the same town?? Hope this helps - if not, give us more info and we will see what we can find for you.

Sally The numbers/letters after the surname are the GRO refernces. This is what the records office use to locate the certificate when you are ordering a copy. Zoe

Hi all people with brains , I don't know where to go from here . Terence Hawkins d.o.b June 1941 there is too pos 1, mother's maiden name Lovatt what does 6b 521 mean ??? and mothers maiden name Nutt 6d 2537 . Please help these are the first leads where now????????? Sally xx p.s Thank you
