We do not know how he went from Ebenezer to edward but his Children knew him as Edward Ebenezer it was only by chance that I found him on the 1901 site as Ebenezer he is too young for 1881 census as he was born in 1890 is it possible that his birth was not registered

Could Ebenzer (or is it Ebenezer?) be his middle name? I have a few rellies who sometimes liked listing their middle name as their first name on the census. Also have a few who appear to have given themselves an entirely new name altogether!

If you have a rough idea of when he was born and his Mother's maiden name, it might be worth trying the 1837 site. How did he go from Ebenzer to Edward anyway??? Alternatively, have you tried the 1881 (cos it's free) or is that too early?
