Help please with Cambs Grand mother's birth

Just had a thought. Have you looked for her birth under he mothers maiden name? If she was born illegitimate, she could have been registered in mothers name, then the parents married later |

Do you have an LDS near you? They will order the film for you, for the parish records, if they have it. I think that parish records would give you a baptism date rather than a birth date though. As it is after 1837, you would have thought that it would be on the civil registers, but registration wasn`t compulsary then |

Grand mother's birth date is proving a BIG headache. It would appear that Martha Unwin was born about 1842 Father of Martha Unwin........Timothy Unwin from Impington Mother................................Sarah Ann (Miller) from Histon I have Timothy and Sarah's marriage cert in 1841, also Martha's marriage cert to John Emmings in 1864 Timothy, Sarah and Martha (aged9) are on the 1851 census Martha (aged39) and John are on the 1881 census Birth place given as Impington Cambs, has anyone access to Parish Records, or can suggest any way to find out her dob, other than visiting Cambridge. So far searches of Cambs web site and GRO have been fruitless. Thanks Anne |
